annoyances pt. 3

people who overuse my name; i know who i am, you clearly know who i am, why do you insist on punctuating the beginning and end of every sentence with it? initially it is flattering that you commit it to memory, validating even. but it is you, who are less than acquaintances (perhaps this is a charm school technique, and maybe why i also never remember names and get my forks confused) who use something that feels very intimate, when those that are close to me don't feel the need to reiterate the label my parent's gave me.
